Photo Essay Written Narrative
What is the subject for your photo essay and where did you take your photographs? (1)
The subject of my Photo Essay is the four seasons, I took my photos at Pierce Beach, my House and on Whetstone Hill.
Why did you select this place? Why is it significant or important to you? (1)
I selected these places because Whetstone Hill has great views of the clouds, Pierce Beach has a nice summer vibe, and I use my house so I could get pictures from each season and showcase the different views.
What concept are you trying to portray about this topic? (1)
I am trying to portray how different the sky looks every season. In the winter, the sky looks very grey, and white. In the Fall, the sky is more orange, and bright. In the Spring, the sky is dark, and cloudy, and in the Summer, The sky is very blue, and filled with life.
Visually, how did your images capture the narrative or “story” of your essay? (1)
My images capture how just like people, the world is always changing, everyday the sky changes a person's perspective on life. On cloudy days, people feel more quieted, and closed in, compared to the summer, where people feel more happy, and lively.
Discuss: the order and arrangement of your photos and how you visually unified the series of photos? (2)
I based the order and arrangement from season to season, from Summer, to Spring, to Fall and finishing my Photo Essay with Winter. In this arrangement, you can how the sky goes from bright, to grey in comparison from Summer to Winter.
Which photo is the strongest in the series?
My strongest photo in this series is Photo 4. Photo 4 shows how orange the sky gets changing from Summer to Fall. This photo mixes the sun and the clouds to create a once in a lifetime image of the two objects mixed together.
Describe the composition (2)
The clouds have different shades going from orange on one side, to dark clouds on the bottom, the clouds make the sky orange and it sets off a different light people usually don't see. This represents fall really well, it gives off a very November feel to the picture.
